Funny Didi

28/1/2016
Chinese New Year is coming soon..

So, Daddy would like to buy his favorite stuff for the year..

Daddy: Let's go and buy Tiger.
Didi: You want me to follow?
Daddy: Yes.
Koko: I didn't want to go.

Didi was very excited. He is usually not very excited as he would prefer to watch cartoon at home with Koko.

While leaving the house -
Didi: Daddy is going to buy Tiger. Tiger in Winnie the Pooh one, right?
Daddy: Har?
Didi was so happy laughing there..Tiger in Winnie the Pooh...

Guess which Tiger is so important for Daddy to go out and buy...

Dumpling festival

Dumpling is Hubby's most favorite food. He doesn't mind taking them day and night. He has been taking at least one dumpling for every week since one or more years ago. This year, we were suppose to has DIY session at home during the festival. Unfortunately, Hubby got a flight to catch in the morning. We have DIY twice before, once during Uni time and another time was in 2008 before Koko was born. Hubby got a much better skill. I haven't been able to inherent the skill from my mom. It looks easy, until you really try it out.

It was last Saturday, 23 June - 5th day of the 5th Chinese lunar month, Dumpling Festival. After sent Hubby to airport, 3 of us went back to my mom's place. As expected lots of dumpling waiting for us there. It has been so many years since I sample the 'Ki-Chang'. Learn this word from Wikipedia - Jianshui zong.
Small in size, and you'll eat at least 5-6 at one time.

I remembered during school time, every year during this festival, we will need to separate the glutinous rice and rice to make 'ki-chang'. It was a very tedious job and got to do it almost every night for the whole week before the festival. The rice is transparent and more expensive compare to glutinous rice. So, the seller will usually mix them and sell in a cheaper price. However, to make ki-chang', you'll need to separate them or else when it is cooked, you'll see the white dots of the glutinous rice, instead of the transparent rice. I doesn't like to eat them when I'm small. I prefer 'Bak-chang'. Since I have left home for college till now (~16 years, wow!!), I think mom hasn't been making Ki-chang for so long, until this year. Having the chance to sample the Ki-chang again, I felt in love with them. Koko and Didi love them too. We ate them with palm sugar (gula melaka). Mom told me now it's easy, can buy the ready rice without need to separate them anymore. They are more expensive ~RM4/kg.
The 'o thing' really does matter.

After have our lunch and 'ta pau', we went back home. This was our dinner. Taking care of the 2 boys by myself, it was an amazing job - 2 more weeks to go before Hubby is back.

Great valentines gift

This year, there were a lot great *special* idea that i heard for valentines. It started with a friend FBing on having a 4 new 'tayar bunga' for the wife. Flowers, the gift that you will always associate to this special day. So, i asked Hubby. "Where is my flower?". Guess what's the answer. "It's in your stomach already." They are white and green flower.... cauliflower, brocolli... wow.. Isn't that a great idea?

Koko in action

Koko is so cute... We went to the Muar Tanjung playground during CNY. He has all the acts there. He enjoys this so much and now he is already independent to play by his own..

Ping pong piang...

Koko and Didi were having lots of fun with the fire crackers this year. From morning to night, as long as Yeye or Shukshuk is around.
First time, Koko tried it out by himself.
With Shukshuk.
Didi has his own fun too.
Night session.
Didi with Yeye.

Johor Premium Outlet

This is our target to visit during this CNY trip. Hubby decided to head to this place on the first day of CNY. It took around 1.5hrs from Muar to reach Kulaijaya entrance. The location is pretty easy to reach. Once you exit from the toll, and go towards Kulaijaya, you'll see the outlet big signboard.
We thought this place will not be crowded since it's the first day of CNY which everyone supposely be visiting each other. Carpark was almost full and it was raining causing the crowd to be cramping together. From exterior look, the outlet looks huge. 2 storeys high.
 View from the carpark
Crowd on every shop
Only 2 stores with queue. This is one of them. Another is the Burberry.
Drinking fountain, very seldom to find in Malaysia
Resting after fews shop. Koko is making funny faces
Hubby's target store. Price in range from RM150++ for most of them. Very limited choices too.
The cheapest one
Tired. Can't walk anymore.
Keep on looking for places to sit.
@ the food court
Ended up @ Coffee bean for an ice-blended. Feel real good in such hot weather.

Kulim chicken rice

On 4th day of CNY, during lunch, suddenly Koko said he wanna go back to Kulim. We were wondering why, since he was having such a great time there.

He said ' I want chicken rice. Go back Kulim.'

He missed the chicken rice so much that he wanted to go back immediately. We didn't bought the chicken rice, thought he may just eat the home cook food by MIL. Unfortunately, this little boy is very strong in principal, rather to wait for his chicken rice and not to eat at all.

The next day, while we were at the hawker street, Hubby just bought him a pack of chicken rice since Koko hasn't been eating almost whole day by now.

So guys, when you are here in Kulim, must remember the chicken rice. You will know then why my little boy can remember it so much.
Koko enjoying the Muar chicken rice. Nothing to compare to the one from Kulim. :)
Having otak-otak at the same time. Curious. First time he was trying this.

Food in Muar

We went out on the 5th day to take a look at the hawker street. As usual, it was crowded with cars. I'm quite surprise to see so many new CNY stalls (i think is new, as never see them before). Guess what, they have one in common.. Muar famous food..I just manage to capture 3 of them while waiting in the car. If not mistaken, there were another 2 stalls along the same street. All of the stalls were having very good business. A must have in Muar to bring back as souvenir.
The typical stall that you can find all the times.
New stall setup on the street.
Another one at the center of the street.
Showing me his cute face when saw the camera.
Koko was acting too.
Another famous in Muar.

Only can be seen during CNY.
It does really from Muar only.

Melaka @ night

1Malaysia dragon in the Jonker Street is the attractive point for the night. This is not the main objective for this visit. We are going for something better. But this attraction is a must to see for this CNY. Why wanna miss it when it's just around the area?

Jam. Car, bike, trishaw, human. As expected to see the crowd there after dinner. This is the first time we viisted Jonker street at night, never know there are a lot of interesting stuff to see here.

A lot of cute stuff.
Lok-lok in Melaka
Uncle's Karaoke place.
Cute 'bangku'
Interesting deco at one of the shops.

Another new thing that we tried here. Trishaw ride. Fun and we really enjoy it. Though it was only less than 10min ride, the wind blowing to our face esp on this hot weather, was really good. When I asked the Abang on the ride price, he said 'It was RM10 during Dr M, but now is Dr N, so it's RM15.' Hmm..what is he trying to imply that?

Curious Koko.
After the ride.
Very creative and colourful.

The next visit. This is the main objective for this trip. Open at 5.00pm and onwards. Crowd still remain when we arrived there at 10pm and non-stop even when we left at 11pm.

Satay Celup.
No wonder, the next few shops are empty.
Quite a lot of choices. If you are pork fan, this is the right place.
Waiting in front of the shop. Luckily we're first in line.
Koko's showing off his mood. It was 10pm already.
Celup celup.

If you ask me how's the satay celup, I'll say, we'll only go there once. Probably we have a high expectation for it. Thick soup with peanut, real satay soup. It wasn't as expected. And I feel the soup is getting bitter as it goes to the end. Not able to really enjoy it in this hot weather. Another thing to remember - don't visit the toilet before you eat.
